HARDI Distributors Annual Sales Growth Through October 2017

Heating, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International’s (HARDI’s) latest Targeted & Regional Economic News for Distribution Strategies (TRENDS) report showed average sales for HARDI distributor members increased 11 percent in October 2017. The average annualized growth for the 12 months through October 2017 was 6.6 percent.

Total existing-home sales, which are completed transactions that include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums, and co-ops, increased 2 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.48 million in October from a downwardly revised 5.37 million in September.

The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) October Architecture Billings Index (ABI) score was 51.7, up from a score of 49.1 in the previous month. This score reflects an increase in design services provided by U.S. architecture firms.

The unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, October 2015-2017

The unemployment rate edged down by 0.1 percentage point to 4.1 percent in October 2017, and the number of unemployed persons decreased by 281,000 to 6.5 million. Since January 2017, the unemployment rate has declined by 0.7 percentage point, and the number of unemployed persons has decreased by 1.1 million.

The survey of consumers in November, conducted by the University of Michigan, announced the index of consumer expectations registered an 87.6, down from 90.5 in October 2017 and up from an 85.2 in October 2016.
